Skype for Business 2016 - Basic Training (PC)
Microsoft Skype for Business 2016 is software that enables real-time online communication and collaboration. It integrates with Outlook and provides the ability to chat with one or many Skype for Business users, make video or voice calls and hold impromptu or formal online meetings. Best of all, Skype for Business allows you to see the availability and status of your colleagues based on their Outlook calendar, computer activity or preferred status.
This basic training class covers Microsoft Skype for Business 2016 (for Windows) and is split into three parts. In part one, we’ll cover the interface, adding contacts, viewing and updating presence. In part two, you’ll use instant message (IM) to communicate and experiment with using Skype-to-Skype calling and adding others to the conversation. In part three, you’ll get to experiment with creating meetings and using the collaboration tools.
You do not need a headset to participate in session. If you have a headset, you are welcome to bring it with you to the workshop.
Mac Users: Skype for Business 2016 for PC and Lync 2011 for Mac are noticeably different. You are welcome to enroll in this PC lab, however you may want to sign up for a Lync 2011 for Mac training. Lync 2011 for Mac training will occur as requested.
Note: At this time, the Skype training covers online meetings, contact list management, and instant messaging. It does not cover the phone features of Skype for Business.
